At the Forum in Varna (2005) the Heads of States decided that on the next forum in Opatija (2006) a Strategy for identifying, preserving, sustainably using and promoting cultural corridors of South East Europe will be presented. The Project for the Strategy is jointly worked by experts from the states in the region and the international organizations: UNESCO, the Council of Europe and the European Commission. The Project is inspired by the main principles, declared in the Varna Declaration. Five main strategic goals are defined. On this basis, the elaboration of Action Plan for the practical realization of the goals is proposed. The Project is presented to the attention of the Heads of State in Opatija, on the 1st of June 2006.
