The Historical Museum of Razgrad is one of the oldest scholarly and cultural-educational institutes not only in Razgrad but also in Bulgaria. Whose foundations, with this and for the museum works, were placed by a scholar named Ananie Ivanov Javashov- a teacher and inspector of natural science. During the summer of 1887, he conducted the first excavations in the weastern part of Abritus when bases of early Chiristian basilica from the 5-6th centuries was revealed. In the same year Javashov set a collection of museum in the old building of men's school. 1887 is the year that the beginning of the museum work was placed in Razgrad. For the initiative of Javashov on 19th. March 1922, the archeological association of Razgrad was established, and he was selected by everyone as the first representive.
