Cultural Roads
The cultural corridor Sofia-Ohrid passes through Bulgaria and FYR of Macedonia, connecting the monastery agglomerations around these two historic towns and the religious cultural area of Metohia in Serbia and Montenegro.
The Sofia-Ohrid Road is a specific religious axis, conducting religious influences to the great pilgrim road Via Egnatia. Along the direction connecting the monasteries and churches of the Sofia Holy Mount, of the region Metohia and those around the Ohrid Lake, has been spreading for ages faith and arts, related to religious construction – architectural techniques and skills, wall painting, woodcarving. One of the most outstanding woodcarving schools in Debar (FYR of Macedonia) took its way, to bequeath its skilful mastership all over South East Europe along this corridor.
