The Kornati National Park is symbolized by “crowns”, namely, impressive vertical cliffs on the open seaside of the island string and the biologically and geo-morphologically exceptionally rich submarine world in sharp contrast with the seemingly frugal and inhospitable island. The Parks consists of 89 islands, islets and cliffs with a coastal line approximately 238 km long. In addition to Kornati’s natural heritage there are also built structures on island, such as dry stone walls, small churches, stone dwellings, salt works, a fort, an early Christian basilica, etc., which testify to man’s presence on these island from the Neolithic period.
