The Castle of Cris (1559) is one of the finest exemples of Transylvanian Renaissance architecture, in which the need for protection against robberies is combined with a new desire for confort and elegance. The palace’s main feature is the porch of the first storey as well as the medieval Southern tower refurbished to house the new more fashionable rooms characteristic for the Renaissance period.
