The village of Kichinica is located 3 km on the west of Mavrovo Lake, on the slopes of Bistra Mountain, within the National Park of Mavrovo. It belongs to the area of "Gorna Reka" - a part of the Reka-Debar region (Western Macedonia, near the border with Albania), well-known for its natural and cultural heritage.
Kichinica is a clustered type of mountain village. The houses are built in stone; the steep roofs are covered with "shindra" (interlaced small boards); the windows are very small, similar to the loophole of the defense tower; the "chardak"- enclosed porch, is positioned on the central part of the upper floor. The most significant house of this type and the oldest one as well is the house of Mr. Spiridon Janevski.  Characteristic architectural component of the interior of these houses is the deep niche on the eastern wall on the first floor, used as a "private alter".
The village church dedicated to St. Nicholas is a small one-aisled church, built in the 19th century. The icons on the iconostasis were painted by the famous artist of local origin, Dicho Zograph.
