The Exhibition Cultural Corridors and Cultural Heritage of South East Europe is arranged by the Association for Cultural Tourism in the frames of the project Trans-Balkan Cultural Corridor Greece-Bulgaria-Romania – Shared Heritage and Common European Future and in honour of the 20th anniversary of the Cultural Routes Programme of the Council of Europe – an initiative of the Council of Europe (2007-2008). The Exhibition in linked with the project Cultural heritage: education – science – preservation – integrated in tourism (HERITAGE: ESPRIT) by UACEG, NAA, ACT and ICOMOS/Bulgaria, selected by the Ministry of Education and Science Study on National Historic and Culture Legacy as a part of European Cultural Heritage and Advanced Methods for Preserving.

The aim of the Exhibition is to represent the image of the heritage of South East Europe – a region with millennial history and culture and the possibilities for its sustainable development. One part of the Exhibition – the three major maps of the cultural roads and the cultural heritage of the world, Europe and the Region of South East Europe, the twelve photos of the world heritage sites and the Multimedia presentation have been presented for the first time at the Multimedia Exhibition to the Regional Forum in Varna, 2005.

Another part of the materials of the Exhibition is developed especially for the present Exhibition. They present the cultural corridor Eastern Trans-Balkan road between Greece, Bulgaria and Romania, which could be realised through effective cross-border cooperation between the regional administrations and municipalities of the three countries. Students and their tutors from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) in Sofia, present a fragment of a Bulgarian territory rich for its cultural heritage. Thus they show the possibilities for cultural tourism development along the cultural corridor. The materials have been developed in the Multimedia Laboratory for Cultural Heritage of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG), Sofia.

The Exhibition is organized in the Dantchov’s House (17-23 November 2007) with the kind assistance and hospitality of the Ancient Plovdiv Municipal Institute, Plovdiv
